This Week’s Food Feature

La Casa Dolce

A Mother’s Day pastry spread from La Casa Dolce

📍 755 Queensway St E

Need something sweet for Mother’s Day?

La Casa Dolce is a Mississauga Italian bakery and café known for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries, cannoli, tarts, squares, and custom desserts.

If you’re hosting, visiting family, or bringing dessert to mom, this is a much better move than grabbing whatever is left at the grocery store.

Their Mother’s Day collection includes cakes and sweets that are perfect for your Mother’s Day spread, whether you want something classic, thoughtful, or easy to share.

It’s the kind of place that makes dessert feel a little more special.

Apricot Tree Café

📍 1900 Dundas St W

Apricot Tree Café is a long-running European-style café in Sherwood Forrest Village.

Go here when you want something sit-down but not too heavy. The menu has eggs Benedict, apricot French toast, crêpes, schnitzel, smoked salmon flatbread, prosciutto focaccia, pastas, duck, seafood, and plenty of cakes and pies.

It works well for Mother’s Day weekend, a quieter family meal, or a relaxed west-end lunch.

Takumi BBQ

📍 1170 Burnhamthorpe Rd W

Takumi is the kind of dinner where everyone gets involved.

It’s all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ, so you grill beef, chicken, pork, seafood, and vegetables right at the table. There are also appetizers, soups, rice dishes, noodles, maki rolls, ramen, and dessert if you want to keep ordering.

This is a good call for a group dinner, birthday meal, double date, or any night where you want dinner to feel more fun than just ordering one plate.

Movie nights are coming to a park near you

Mississauga is planning to bring outdoor movie nights to more neighbourhood parks starting in summer 2027.

The idea is to create free local events in multiple areas of the city, with parks picked out across Mississauga. It’s not for this summer unfortunately, but it could turn into a great way for communities to come together on summer nights to enjoy your favourite films.

Know the Victoria Day fireworks rules

Victoria Day weekend is coming up next week, so here’s the early heads up.

The City says consumer fireworks can only be used on private property on Monday, May 18 from 6 to 10 p.m.

They’re not allowed in parks, parking lots, streets, sidewalks, or property you don’t own. The City also says roman candle fireworks are now prohibited.

The goal is simple: make it easier to know what’s happening around Mississauga and prove our city is more interesting than people think.

See you next week!
