Good morning Mississauga.

For a brief moment this week it actually felt like spring.

Temperatures across the GTA climbed into the high-teens, which felt like a preview of warmer days ahead after a long winter.

And just in time too!

March Break events are starting. Maple syrup season is here. And there are several fun things happening around the city over the next few days.

If you’ve ever said “there’s nothing to do in Mississauga” this newsletter is here to prove you wrong.

Let’s get into it!

In today’s edition

  • 8 things happening in Mississauga this week

  • A major planning study underway downtown

  • New federal money flowing into housing

  • Restaurant of the week

  • Homes currently on the market

This Week’s Sauga Trivia

Did you know?

Mississauga is now Canada’s 7th largest city, with a population of over 800,000 people.

But until 1968, the area wasn’t called Mississauga at all. It was known as Toronto Township.

The city was officially incorporated as Mississauga in 1974.

Quick poll

Before we dive in deeper, quick question:

Things To Do In Mississauga This Week

Maple Magic Festival

📅 March 14–22
📍 Bradley Museum

One of Mississauga’s most underrated spring traditions is back!

The Maple Magic festival celebrates maple syrup season with historic demonstrations, pancakes, crafts, and family activities on the museum grounds.

If you’re looking for a classic Canadian spring outing, this is it.

Puppet Festival Mississauga

📅 March 14–22

A week-long international puppetry festival featuring performances, workshops and exhibits across multiple venues in the city.

It’s another fun family-friendly option for March Break and one of the more unique cultural events happening locally.

Celtic Roots Concert

📅 March 13
📍 Clarke Memorial Hall

Live Irish and Celtic music just ahead of St. Patrick’s Day to get you in the spirit!

Expect traditional Irish folk music, dancing and storytelling.

Mississauga Eid Festival

📅 March 17
📍 Mississauga Grand Banquet Hall

A large community festival featuring food vendors, shopping, cultural performances and family activities.

One of the biggest cultural events happening locally this month.

March Break Programs

📅 March 14–22
📍 Mississauga libraries

Libraries across the city are hosting March Break programming including magic shows, music workshops, and kids activities.

Low-Key Things To Do This Weekend

Sometimes you don’t need a big event. Here are a few easy local ideas if you want to get out of the house this weekend.

Lake Aquitaine Park

One of the nicest walking spots in the city that somehow still flies under the radar. The boardwalk trail around the lake is about 2km and great for sunset walks.

Streetsville Village

If you want something that actually feels like a small town, Streetsville is one of the best areas in Mississauga. Grab a coffee, walk the main strip and check out the Credit River.

Erin Mills Town Centre food hall

Square One gets all the attention, but Erin Mills Town Centre quietly added a solid food hall with a handful of good quick eats. Easy dinner stop if you’re nearby.

Mississauga News & Updates

Major planning study underway near Square One

Mississauga has launched two planning studies focused on extending Square One Drive and City Centre Drive.

The goal is to improve transportation and connectivity as downtown Mississauga continues to grow.

A public meeting is scheduled for March 26 at the Living Arts Centre where residents can learn more about the project and provide feedback.

Mississauga receives $28M to help build housing

The city has received another $28.2 million from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund.

This brings total funding to more than $84 million intended to speed up housing construction and support new development across the city.

Restaurant Of The Week

Posta Italbar Cucina

📍 Port Credit

If you’re looking for an excuse to head down to Port Credit this weekend, Posta Italbar is a great pick.

The restaurant specializes in handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza and Italian wines.

It’s also participating in Portlicious, a winter dining event running through March 16.

Homes Of The Week

Mississauga home prices rose about 3% year-over-year in February. Here are a few listings around Mississauga that caught my eye this week:

Starter Pick

📍 85 - 6699 Falconer Drive, Streetsville
🛏 3 bed | 🛁 2 bath
💰 $669,000

A minimalist townhouse in one of the better pockets of Streetsville. Good starter-home energy, and the Falconer Drive pocket is a solid one.

Mid-Market Pick

📍 7 - 3135 Boxford Crescent, Churchill Meadows
🛏 3 bed | 🛁 3 bath
💰 $749,990

A Churchill Meadows townhouse with the kind of layout that makes sense for a young family or move-up buyer. Practical, polished, and in a neighbourhood that stays in demand.

Luxury Pick

📍 708 - 21 Park Street E, Port Credit
🛏 2 + 1 bed | 🛁 2 bath
💰 $999,800

Port Credit waterfront condo living, floor-to-ceiling-glass type of vibe, in a building and location that immediately feels premium. This is the kind of listing people click just to see the view.
